humm....have we seen this somewhere before?

TI Album Cover

So I do like T.I., however, according to MTV he says:

“We didn’t want to just do a typical cover, especially for my sixth album,“ T.I. told us via e-mail. “I wanted to try something a little more different. The illustration for Paper Trail pays an obvious homage to my rekindled affinity for writing my lyrics down as well as displays my commitment to keep my art slanted towards the abstract.“

Have we seen this before?  Check it out below the fold.

Making Vim Suck Less on Mac OSX

I have been a 1/2 time Ubuntu, 1/2 time OS X user for about a year.  While I generally liked Ubuntu, it was a drag not to be able to use my favorite programs such as TextMate and Adobe CS3.  So, I’ve made the jump to being a full-time Mac fan-boy.

I’m still irritated that I can’t scroll my mouse up and down in the document, however I find that dumping the Mac Terminal for iTerm is a good start.

Recording Session

I have been a musician for about 25 years….Being under 30, that’s all but a few years of my life.  When I was 3, I found out my grandfather was a saxophone player, so I decided I would be.  So I am.  grin

Anyhoo, after playing for up to 8-10 hours a day in high school and college, it’s been difficult for me to balance practice time and actually making a living.  Ok, I haven’t practiced in about 4 years….shameful.  But, I find if I can maintain a level of not getting worse, playing is still a blast.

Burning the Midnite Oil

Wow-ee, this summer is going fast.  I have a bunch of projects that are on the cusp of being finished.  I would roll them all out at once, but I’m resolving to try to do this “blogging” thing.

The quick project this week was designing and launching a site for a company I’m involved with:  FAKTIONLABS.  We are all friends dating back to college, and being musicians and techie-geeks, we decided to work on some things to make musicians and artists lives easier.  Peak your interest?  You’ll just have to keep checking back!  grin

Goodbye Windows

Enough is enough.  After years of putting up with Windows and being scared to death about losing my XPP CD and having to purchase Veesta, I decided to install Ubuntu 8.04 on my Dell Lappy.  It’s been relatively smooth sailing so far.  Some minor tweaks were needed to get it to hibernate correctly, and my internal mic took a while to figure out.  However, I’m completely happy with it.  When I can afford it, I’ll end up getting a MacBookPro, but this is a very acceptable solution for the time being.

I intalled VMWare Server to be able to run XPP, but I see no need to….so: rm -rf windows

Some Screenshots below the fold.

Glad I’m not a designer

I just finished up doing the “paste up” (you like my old-school, high school journalism phrase?  eh??  come on…I’m funny), for my day-gig’s season brochure.  Being a code monkey & a hack designer, I hired my buddy David Gnojek to give me the kick-ass cover and interior design.  David did the our design last year after a long standing designer couldn’t do it.  Since we are a non-profit, we always (pun intended…get it?) have to look for creative ways to save money, I woke up one day, fell out of bed, hit my head & decided that I should do it on my own….ha!
